Lifespan vs Health Span
Lifespan vs Health Span: What’s the Difference? Life span, or life expectancy, is the number of years you are expected to live from birth.
Health span refers to the number of years you will live a healthy life free from chronic disease and disability.
Studies show that, on average, people spend one-fifth of their lives with chronic illness.
There are many factors that predispose us to certain ailments but often it’s connected to environmental factors, including lifestyle choices.
Here are some things we do to improve our health span: Have a healthy balanced diet that includes a variety of fruits & vegetables.
Exercise regularly to improve our overall health and well-being. Visit your healthcare provider regularly to monitor your health and detect any problems early.
Care for your mental and emotional health. Improve your cognitive health by exercising your brain.
Eliminate alcohol and tobacco. Focusing on these healthy strategies can improve our health span and lengthen the time we enjoy good health. Let’s start today to make healthier choices!
