MAY is Older Americans Month

“Aging is not lost youth but a new stage of opportunity and strength.”
~Betty Friedan

Established in 1963, it is a time for us to acknowledge the contributions and achievements of older Americans. This year’s theme, Aging Unbound, offers an opportunity to explore a wide range of experiences and to promote the importance of enjoying independence and fulfillment by paving our own paths as we age. The American Society on Aging offers some ways we can all participate in Aging Unbound. 1) Embrace the opportunity to change. Try something new and don’t let age define your limits. 2) Explore the rewards of growing older. You have knowledge and life experience to share with others. Continue to grow that knowledge. 3) Stay engaged in your community. Stay active by volunteering, mentoring, participating in groups and taking part in activities at the local senior center. 4) Form relationships. Relationships can enhance your quality of life by introducing new ideas and unique perspectives. (Source: American Society on Aging).
