Falls and fractures
Falls and fractures….we’ve been hearing a lot about these two things lately. And oh, how these things can disrupt our daily lives and routine. But there’s good news! HELPERS has a couple of classes for you that will help to reduce your risk of falls and injury. One is our twice weekly, low impact, strengthening exercise class held on Mondays and Thursdays. The other is an upcoming Tai Ji Quan: Moving for Better Balance class. Both are free and open to all, regardless of mobility limitations. Our twice weekly class has been in place for many years. Participants benefit from both the exercises and the fun and social atmosphere. Tai Ji Quan (TJQ) is an exercise opportunity that offers the evidence-based benefits of improving muscle strength, balance, flexibility, and mobility in addition to reducing fall risk. TJQ consists of an 8-form routine that is learned and practiced over a 12-week period. This class requires no special equipment and is easily adapted for those with limited mobility. Details on both these classes are in the notices below. “Any age is the right age to exercise.”
