There is a sign that hangs in our window here at HELPERS. It says We Are Dementia Friends. Exactly what does this mean? What is a Dementia Friend? HELPERS is proud to be part of a global movement of people and communities whose purpose is to change the way people think, act, and talk about dementia. Dementia Friends learn about this movement, about living with dementia, and the simple things they can do to support someone living with dementia.
Our staff and some of our volunteers are trained as Dementia Champions who facilitate the information sessions for persons wanting to become a Dementia Friend. Many informational sessions have been held resulting in 111 Dementia Friends right here in Barnesville and we are striving to grow that number.
If you are interested in joining this important movement, please contact HELPERS. We will be happy to arrange for a one-hour information session to grow the number of Barnesville residents who are Dementia Friends.
